My name is Zachary Moir and I am a graphic design major at the University of Tennessee School of Design. I am 20 years old, born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. I chose to pursue Graphic Design because I have always been attracted to design and how it subconsciously influences how we interact with the world and our experiences. I really love sports, music, and everything marine life. While I am not exactly sure what I want to do for my design career, I would be at my happiest if I was able to have work in one of those three fields. In my free time, I love to listen to music, play my guitars, play basketball, and hang out with my cat.
To me, Interaction Design offers a medium where designers can take the next step in elevating their work. Instead of creating a static composition that communicates a message, interaction design allows for you to see the real time effects of what you create. It allows for your design to get even more personal and the chance to handpick exactly what you want the user experience to be.
My favorite part about Design School is the small size of our cohort. I love having the ability to get to know each person in my cohort on a personal level and befriend them. It helps to make the classes much more enjoyable and helps to better the overall experience because you don’t get a brand new class full of new people each year.
A designer that I really enjoy keeping up with is “Drezzdon”. He combines his own musical explorations along with digital designs that combine videos of him walking through different scenery from the cameras perspective. He then overlays text and flashing arrows throughout the screen that highlight different random objects in the video and mimics the thoughts of someone who takes notice of every little thing around them. I really enjoy the aesthetic of the video as well as the immersive aspect of it.
